Providing Personal Protective Equipment Globally

In the United States, Carrier donated 1,500 lightweight protective suits and 14,000 N95 masks to the U.S. government to support distribution to hospitals and other emergency responders. Kidde is helping to equip Canada’s COVID-19 recovery efforts and protect Toronto’s homeless population by supplying approximately 300 Kidde Battery Smoke Alarms and some portable fire extinguishers to aid in the protection of a temporary homeless shelter.

In Europe, Carrier’s Fire & Security business supported critical healthcare services in two hospitals battling the coronavirus, one in Madrid, Spain and the other in Milan, Italy.

In India, Carrier worked with The United Way of New Delhi, to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers and hospitals, as well as provided PPE and training to service technicians who are still working to service units.

In China, Carrier reacted swiftly at the origin of the coronavirus pandemic, and its GST business donated fire detection and alarm products to support the construction of a coronavirus hospital in Wuhan. Carrier’s SENJIE fire and security brand in China donated N95 masks to its local Safety Supervision Squadron for use by frontline security staff.

Caring for Our Community Partners

Carrier realizes that some of the organizations that are most hard-hit from COVID-19 are nonprofit organizations that have seen a rapid decline in the number of volunteers and donations. To quickly respond, Carrier worked closely with our nonprofit community partners to understand their immediate needs and how we can help.

Carrier Transicold is supporting Feeding America’s increased need for refrigerated transport and storage units for its network of food banks across the nation. To start, Carrier donated a refrigeration unit to Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan, in the Detroit area, to help provide meals to school-aged children who are no longer receiving meals at school due to coronavirus-related closures.

A long-time supporter of Habitat for Humanity, Carrier supported the emergency response fund of Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County, Florida, where Carrier’s world headquarters is located. The fund allows Habitat’s construction team to continue to build more than 10 homes in Palm Beach County as well as support homeowners who have recently lost their jobs as a result of COVID-19 related economic pressures.

While schools have moved to remote-learning, Carrier is helping students discover the natural world virtually through its support of Nature Lab, an online curriculum program for teachers and families. In collaboration with The Nature Conservancy, Nature Lab provides virtual field trip videos and activities designed by educators for students K-12.
