Carrier Transicold Names 1st CareMAX™ Qualified Service Centers

Carrier Transicold has named the first five container refrigeration service centers to achieve CareMAX recognition through its new comprehensive refrigerant management program. Carrier Transicold helps improve global transport and shipping of temperature-controlled cargoes with a complete line of equipment for refrigerated trucks, trailers and containers, and is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

H.C.C.R. GmbH of Hamburg, Germany, and Holland Reefer Service B.V. of Rotterdam, Netherlands, join three S&T Contemp Co. Ltd. locations in Thailand — Bangkok, Chonburi and Nakorn Pathom — as the first CareMAX service centers.

Short for Carrier Refrigerant Management Excellence, the CareMAX program sets standards to help Carrier-authorized container service centers better manage refrigerants and refrigerant supplies. The CareMAX program’s industry-leading protocols cover all post-production stages of refrigerant handling — procurement, testing, storage, decanting, maintenance of refrigerant handling tools and, especially, training of service technicians who handle refrigerants.

“We’re pleased to announce these CareMAX service centers. With more audits already being scheduled into 2015, we anticipate the list of CareMAX service centers will grow steadily,” said Michael Dormer, general manager, Global Container Services, Carrier Transicold.

The CareMAX program was developed in response to instances of refrigerant contamination and counterfeiting in the industry in recent years. CareMAX protocols incorporate high standards for procedures and written processes focused on preventing improper refrigerant from entering the service channel.

“Change starts at the front line, so the CareMAX program emphasizes training and awareness as well as accountability of service center management and their refrigeration service engineers,” Dormer said.

Carrier Transicold Global Container Refrigeration provides customer care, including support, service and repairs, through a worldwide network of more than 400 authorized service centers in all major and developing ports, backed by 13 strategically located parts depots.
