UTC Building & Industrial Systems to Focus on Intelligent Solutions at IFSEC

UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), will launch a strong lineup of new intrusion, video and fire products at the upcoming International Fire and Security Exhibition and Conference (IFSEC). Among the integration-focused offerings will be a new technology that can send images from a security event directly to a user’s smartphone.

“We are seeing that a lot of installers who traditionally specialised in one or two areas are now looking for wider opportunities. The move toward integration is becoming much stronger and being driven by demand from end users and by installers who are offering more in order to win business,” said Kevin Swann, country manager, Fire & Security UK, UTC Building & Industrial Systems.

A straightforward example of integration that will be highlighted at IFSEC is the company’s well-established access control technology, TruPortal™, which now links easily with its TruVision® video technology to offer myriad benefits. Installers can set up a system that records or shows video images of door access events, such as unauthorised-access attempts or all door-entry activity on specified doors. False-alarm incidents can be reduced by tying access control to intrusion systems, so that only authorised alarm system managers can gain entry while the alarm is set.

Another example of integration across technologies is the Aritech™ PIRcam. The PIRcam will be introduced at IFSEC and allows images of alarm events to be sent to end users’ smartphones, providing easy and immediate visual verification of an intrusion alarm. The PIRcam also provides the central monitoring station (CMS) with tools to prioritize events and allocate efforts more efficiently. Providing supporting data and images, in case of any alarm notification, will enable central monitoring personnel to service their customers more professionally.

“At this year’s IFSEC, we’re looking forward to demonstrating how technology is making integrated systems easier to design, install and manage, as well as how installers and end users can get more value from these technologies,” Swann added.
